Topic: "Diagnosis of Rubus stunt in raspberries"

Rubus stunt is considered as one of the most important diseases caused by phytoplasmas in raspberries, resulting in losses of up to 100%. Diagnosis of this disease based on currently available protocols is so far inefficient as latent infections of plants are often not detected and modes of transmission and vector species are unknown. The project therefore aims at elaborating a highly sensitive and efficient molecular detection method for Rubus stunt phytoplasmas allowing an on-site test at early stages during plant propagation. In addition, aspects on number of vector species and their phenology as well as on other modes of transmission will be acquired and used for defining exact management strategies.
